retrospect

I still want to be an author...to see my name in print, either on the internet or in a common magazine. I receive (for free) over 40 publications monthly. My favorite part is to browse through the magazines and look at the author's biographies. Then I should write to them and ask how they got started and what they do on a daily basis to keep their creative juices flowing.
Let's look back to my own writing history. As a child, I started keeping a journal when I was 8. I was religious about it, writing in my journals at least 3X weekly until hitting high school At that time, I wrote more sporadically, but started thinking about writing as a career. I joined a local newspaper for high school students and started regularly contributing there.
Being the young person I was, I was easily swayed and told that journalism is not a prolific career, so I entered college with a degree in microbiology in mind. I had a goal to go to medical school.
Now, I'm a nurse, mom, and marketing guru. Somehow, I should be able to combine all these things. The next post with continue with this theme...

Playing peacefully

My home is always loud. My daughter has a sensory disorder and she loves noise, even if it herself screaming or humming constantly. I noticed today, however, it was peaceful for a moment. I was washing dishes that have been left in the sink for 3 days and I turned off the water, because I didn't hear anything! DD was putting puzzles together and DS was watching intently. I smiled and paused and thanked God for the peace. Sure, there is peace when they both are sleeping, but this was a different peace that doesn't come to this home of toddlers very often. I crave and seek this peace. Life is so busy with running around and preparing meals, and trying to keep all the hats on and all the plates spinning. There are moments like these that remind me why I started this journey of motherhood. My babies..my inspiration.

write every day

I need a place to ramble every day and practice creative writing, so this will be it. I'm taking an online course on internet writing, and my goal is to get published, so I will keep taking classes and write (even if only for 5 minutes) everyday. This may be more of a diary, but at least I will get the creative juices flowing.
